ANESTHETIC MANAGEMENT FOR REPAIR OF A RARE ANEURYSM IN A CHILD

VIJAY ANANDH

Abstract

Anesthetic management of aorto-iliac aneurysm repair is a real challenge to an anesthesiologist and the patient being a 3 year old child makes it even more  complicated. Here we present a case of a 3 year old patient who came for a bilateral common iliac artery aneurysm repair. The main anesthetic implications during aorto-iliac surgeries are hemodynamic stability during aortic clamping, normothermia, preventing organ ischemia reperfusion injuries, renal protection, managing fluid shifts and postoperative pain relief.
