Leptospirosis presenting as myopericarditis and complete heart block - an extremely rare and lethal combination.
Abstract
Abstract : Leptospirosis is an important zoonotic disease endemic in some of the areas of India. It
may involve multiple systems in humans like liver, kidneys and lungs. Though cardiac involvement is
rarely reported, presence of myocarditis and high grade atrioventricular block is extremely uncommon
in this era. We present a young male with fever who initially presented with chest pain simulating
acute coronary syndrome and later developed pericarditis, myocarditis, mobitz type 2 atrioventricular
block and complete heart block. All the features were reversed with appropriate management.
